Whenever an engine is cleaned, it is very easy to conduct repairs or maintenance. It is a good habit to maintain and increase the performance and life of an engine if it is cleaned regularly. But if it’s been a long time since you cleaned your engine, there are strong possibilities that it may take a bit of time to allow the degreaser to soak through the grime, and a bit of elbow grease to bush off deposits of oil. If you want to prevent your engine from rust, simply clean the engine regularly. Below are some steps through which engine degreasing can be done easily.Remove any Debris Caught in the Engine Bay
First of all, while starting the engine cleaning and degreasing, always remove the stuff like leaves, grass, twigs, or other debris from the engine bay. This debris can be the major issue and even resultants and fire caught if left to remain on the engine or electric system for a long time.- Then simply disconnect the battery terminals
- Carefully cover exposed wiring or electronics
- Start the engine and let it remain in the starting position for at least 5 minutes
Apply Engine Degreaser
Get any type of engine degreaser from the market. There are many brands of engine degreaser from which you can pick any one. Almost all of them are of the same usage. Simply spray the degreaser on the engine from the bottom up. By doing this, it will cover the total engine. The engine degreasers come in spray bottle as well as in a liquid bottle to apply with a cloth.Avoid to Degrease on Painted Components
Be careful while doing engine degreasing on the painted surface because it can be very reactant on painted surface and it can remove the clear coat from paint. Also don’t overspray while covering the engine. Remember one thing; degreaser can remove the shine form automotive parts. If this happens, rinse degreaser off painted surfaces as quickly as possible.Let The Engine Degreaser to Soak
Engine degreaser is the best thing to remove away the stuck on grime on the engine. Normally, it takes three to five minutes to soak in for fairly dirty engines or especially dirty engines.Scrub the Stuck on Grime by Using Stiff Brush
Simply use a stiff bristled or steel toothed brush to scrub away the amount of grease, burned oil or grime. When the decrease is applied before, it is very easy to remove the grime; otherwise you may face a lot of trouble and hard work to remove it. *precaution: Always wear eye protection while scrubbing the engine to avoid getting degreaser in your eyes.Wash the Engine with Regular Hose
